The study of properties of bishofit has begun under such a title in 2000. This mineral is a product of crystallization of salts of an ancient Perm Sea. The studies of properties of bishofit are directed to its usage for creation of new materials. In Ukraine bishofit is mined by water jet method that provides its upheaval on the surface of the Earth as highly concentrated brine of magnesium chloride. SPC "Edem" is engaged in study of properties of bishofit extracted in Ukraine, with the purpose of its usage in different areas of production. For the first time, a German scientist G. Bishof has described this mineral, that subsequently has received a name of "bishofit''. In the natural state, bishofit is a crystalline salt generated during vaporization of the ancient sea. Bishofit is extremely hydroscopic, it thaw even on air. In the nature it lays at a depth of 2000- 2500m. In pure state, the crystals of bishofit have a white, pink or other coloring depending on impurities. The mineralogical composition of bishofit is introduced in Tab.1: Table 1
The mayor amount of magnesium chloride has determined the formula of bishofit MgCl2+6H2O. For today only three places on the Earth where the mining of this unique material is possible are known. One of them is the north of eastern part of Ukraine, where bishofit lays at a depth of 2000-2500m. The denseness of the brine extracted in Chernigov and Poltava regions of Ukraine varies from 1,37 g/sm3 up to 1,25 g/sm3 at 00C. Usual brine of bishofit, diluted up to a level of non-receipt of crystallization at 00C, has denseness of 1,3 g/sm3. The content of the basic chemical components is introduced in Tab. 2: Table 2
The brine of bishofit is a colorless or feebly colored yellow-pink fluid, unctuous to the touch, with a burning bitter-saline taste. The freezing temperature of the solution of bishofit is minus 35 0C. It is investigated that bishofit contains dozens of microelements ( Br, I, K, etc.). Minor amount of kieseriet and anhydride makes the coloring of bishofit. Due to its properties, bishofit may be used in many spheres of human activity. The mineralogical and ion-mineral content of bishofit proves possibility of its application as a raw material for deriving many useful mono minerals and different salts. SPC "Edem'' investigates the properties of bishofit for its applying in different areas of national economy. 1 In 80-s of ÕÕ c. bishofit was delivered to Ukraine from Volgograd, Russia, for pharmaceutical web and was applied for preventive measures and treatment of illnesses of joints and peripheral nervous system (osteoarthrosis, intervertebral osteochondrosis with a pain radicular syndrome). It is for external use, mainly for taking baths with bishofit, and also for electrophoresis. The mineral renders a good medical effect in treatment of illnesses of joints, it adjusts failures of a nervous system. The clinical information on positive influence of the brine of bishofit at dissonance of a cardiovascular system is derived. The research of bishofit extracted in Ukraine from depth of 2000-2500 m was conducted by Odessa Scientific-Research Institute on Health Resort Study and Medical Aftertreatment. This research has given medical observations for treatment of the following illnesses: - ostheoartrosis of different localization; - osteochondrosis with a pain radicular syndrome; - distorting spondelosis and spondeloarthrosis; - traumatic arthritis. Having a broad spectrum of application, bishofit is more practical compared with medical mud, because its application does not require large energy consumption. The unique feature of the mineral is its being ecologically clean. 2 Bishofit is used in production of wood-shaving slabs, which allows to receive ecologically clean building material. 3 Bishofit is used in metallurgy, in production of a protective coat against corrosion. 4 Bishofit can be used as a material that prevents ice covering of roads. 5 Bishofit can serve as a raw material for deriving magnesium that is found with Cl (MgCl2) in a great quantity in the brine of bishofit (100gr/l). SPC "Edem" carries out investigation of Ukrainian market for search of potential customers of bishofit, for whom the delivery up to 60 tons per month could be realized. This valuable mineral meets demands of Ukraine ÒÓ Ó 00136573.001-99. Concerning delivery, apply to the address of SPC "Edem". |
