SPC ''Edem" has elaborated a new type dampener for automobiles. It is characterized as a resonance dampener. In a new dampener the interaction of reflected sound waves with the main spectrum of sound waves, produced by an engine at pushing out exhausted gases, is taken into account.

        The peculiarity of a new dampener consists in its having no bafflers or interleaves. It represents some sequentially welded tubes of different length and diameter.

        The exhaust gases of an engine come into the first camera of the dampener through the entrance tube. They widen and loose a part of their kinetic and acoustic energy. Reflected from a butt-end side, a sound wave eliminates the noise of discrete exhausted gases. Thus, it reduces the level of noise to the degree provided by existing dampeners.

Existing Dampener

        The advantage of this dampener is that it needs little material, little efforts to produce it, it has a long term of work, equal to the term of work of an automobile, little aerodynamic resistance. All these factors contribute to increasing of the efficiency of an automobile engine, decreasing of temperature on the surface of the dampener.

        The proposed dampener may be used as a main or intermediate resonance dampener.
